Hiya, hiya, hiya...it's been a long time since I've done one of these! Once again it's the Blind Alley Comics Update, conveying our upcoming titles, events, goals and dreams for the next few months. No doubt you're starving for any juicy tidbit I can throw atchya, so here goes...
1. Comics! Yes folks, we have a big lineup for 2018; essentially we're trying to release 6 comics by the end of this year:
The Human Cannonball #8 - Debuting 02/24 at MSU Comics Forum!
Die Kätze III
The Human Cannonball #9
Bone Boy #7
Bone Boy #8
Tales to Befuddle #2
As usual, things are still in flux; we're not sure if TTB2 is happening, or if we'll be trying something else - due to the difficulty of getting all the artists together when they're not busy or having life issues. That's basically 2018; I just hope art can triumph over adversity. Here's wishing all of our artists the best of luck!
2. Trade Paperback Kickstarter! We're planning a big push for our respective Trade Paperbacks - The Human Cannonball and The Strange Adventures of Bone Boy are both going big time, with a Kickstarter campaign and associated folderol. I believe the magic number here is $10,000? We'll follow that up with a "50 States" publicity stunt, in which we try to get Blind Alley Comics titles in at least one comic book store in all 50 States!
3. Minions (no, not those minions)! We're hoping to somehow attract interns or othergullible enthusiastic young helpers to manage our social media, distributing, and marketing presence. The way we see it, we spend way too much time on the peripherals, when we should be focused on production. Self-promotion is one of the toughest things you can do; it's a lot easier when someone else is doing it for you.
4. Conventions! It's been a tough year starting out, but we're still planning on a few conventions:
February 24: MSU Comics Forum Artist Alley (East Lansing, MI)
April 28-29: SPACE (Columbus, OH)
May 5: Free Comic Book Day - Nostalgia Ink (Jackson, MI)
June 23: Detroit Comix Party (Detroit, MI)
July:
August:
September 8: Capital City Con (Lansing, MI)
October:
November: Genghis Con (Cleveland, OH)
December:
(I'll keep you updated as we sign on for more...we usually don't do a whole bunch).
5. Stores! We spent much of last year gaining a foothold in retail outlets around the area. So far we are featured in these fine establishments:
Everybody Reads (Lansing, MI)
Green Brain (Dearborn, MI)
Detroit Comics (Detroit, MI)
The Comic Signal (Grand Rapids, MI)
The Laughing Ogre (Columbus, OH)
Vault of Midnight (Detroit; Ann Arbor; Grand Rapids, MI)
Many more to come!
There's more, lots more...we're just coming out of the Winter Doldrums and into Con Season, so things should be picking up. Be sure to check out our Facebook Page (facebook.com/blindalleycomics) and website (blindalleycomics.com) for more details.
